Our Mission and Programs
Here at ArtSpan, we work to cultivate a vibrant, accessible, and world-class art community in San Francisco, and to promote the city’s unique creative energy locally and globally. We champion an inclusive art experience by providing hundreds of local artists with the equal opportunity to showcase their work and make direct connections to diverse audiences and patrons. We are guided by the belief that artists play a vital role in society and that broad public engagement with their work is essential to defining a new cultural environment for our changing city. Beyond SF Open Studios and our year-round programming for artists and art lovers, ArtSpan is committed to working with community partners and city leadership to advocate for policies that will benefit our creative culture every day. ArtSpan Programs Art-In-Neighborhoods works to fill all corners of the city with vibrant, locally made artwork, celebrated with free public artist receptions. Artist Professional Development Workshops help artists expand their business skills and create a network to build more successful careers. Studio Residency Program provides workspace and a network of support for dozens of artists. Youth Open Studios provides youth art groups the opportunity to show their work in professional settings. Art Curious Events help collectors expand their appreciation of our dynamic creative environments. Artist Mixers cross-pollinate our creative communities through hands-on art activities hosted with partners. Community Engagement invites the public to participate in art-making activities at community events. Public Art Projects beautify the San Francisco landscape with large-scale murals and public art.
